How do I make a correct redirect page?

Postby Znyper » Sat Oct 08, 2011 12:55 pm

Hi,

I am trying to do the following:
* Set up two servers
* Mirror them (using functions outside of SubSonic)
* Set up a redirect page (All users connect to the same URL and that server will redirect them to the closest server)
* If at all possible; Use https as the carrier.

And that's where I am stuck. The redirect part.. My idea was to set up a URL that redirects users (in the same manner xxx.subsonic.org does) to the correct server based on source IP, but for some reason my clients don't like my redirects..?

I've got an IIS 7 server and tried using web page redirects as well as server based responses, but my iPhone App (the only thing I've tried using) keeps telling me all sorts of strange stuff like "Required parameter is missing" or "The operation could not be completed. NSXMLParserErrorDomain error 9" and that doesn't really help me.

So I tried using a protocol analyzer and saw the subsonic.org server got me a HTTP/302 response and redirected me to my IP and port. So I tried doing exactly the same with my own server, but got "Required parameter is missing" in the iSub client..

If i use my .subsonic.org address eveything works fine. If i use my "real" DNS name everything works fine. Both HTTP and HTTPS..

Is there in any way possible for me to find out how the redirects are done at subsonic.org and just do the same thing?

Thankful for any input on this!
