server goes uncontactable once a day

Postby Morax » Thu Oct 20, 2011 2:18 pm

Hello!

I'm hosting a Subsonic-server for a couple of hundred users with more than 1,3TB music only.

But once every 24 hours it is impossible to contact the subsonic server. Everything else works just fine.

When i go to https://morax.se (which is my server adress) the web browser just says "waiting for morax.se...." It's the same for all of my users.

I resolve the problem by stopping the service, wait for a couple of seconds and then start it again. But why? Why is it like this?

I'm now running:
jetty-6.1.x, java 1.6.0_18, Windows Server 2008 R2 with 1024mb cache size.

Two days ago i was on Windows 7, but with the same problem.

Please, help me.

Always the same time of day?
Is there anything in the SS log to indicate a problem?

It's not the same time every day. The log says nothing about this.

Yesterday it was about 2pm this happen, and now on the morning at 8am. Tomorrow, i dont know.

When this happens, the "memory usage" in SubSonic Control Panel is about 400-600mb. Is it extremely large? Or should a try to lower down or up the memory limit?

The rig has 4gb ram, and no more than 70% is used at all time.

Thanks for trying to help.

What does the SS control panel show for memory use when SS is not having its difficulties?
You could try LOWERING the memory limit to say 756 MB
there has been some reported cases where too high a memory allocation appears to cause problems. :?
Also your Java looks like it needs an update - mine is V26
