How do I view videos?

Postby jdavidw13 » Wed Oct 26, 2011 2:52 am

I'm using subsonic version 4.5. I've added my video folder to the "Media Folders" section under the setup option, similarly to how to added my music folder. The "General" setup section includes masks for the type of video media I have in my video folders. My question is, using the subsonic web interface, how do I browse my video media? The left frame, which shows music media by artist, didn't update to include my video media. How do I access it?

Does the video folder appear in the drop down folder list box?

In several guides I've read, I've heard about this dropdown box. No, it doesn't appear for me. Where exactly is it supposed to show up?

Also, I should mention I have registered my subsonic server.

In the left frame at the top under the artist/album/songs totals
e.g. http://forum.subsonic.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=5554 which is showing a folder named TV

Ok. It's definitely not showing up then. I've restarted the subsonic server after adding my videos folder as a media folder in subsonic. I'm not sure what to try at this point.

Check that the folder is enabled
I would suggest a read of http://forum.subsonic.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5506
Knowing what you have installed SS on would help :?

Problem Description:
The folder selection dropdown does not appear in the left-side media selection frame.

Troubleshooting Steps:
I've added my videos folder under the "Media Folders" section of configuration and made sure the "enabled" check box is ticked. I've confirmed the "Video Mask" under general settings includes the type of video media I'm trying to stream. I've restarted the subsonic server after making these changes.

Playback Application and version:
Web browser - Google Chrome

Subsonic Version:

Hmm! most odd
How many media folders do you have listed/enabled in settings/media folders?
If you only have 1 music folder shown try adding another one.
Also change the theme that you are using which will force a refresh of the browser window.

Previously, I only had the "root" of my music library included as a media folder (also the video folder that wasn't working). After adding another media folder, the folder dropdown list showed up in the left frame. The folder list included my old music folder, the video folder I had previously added, and this new folder I added as a test. I'm not sure why it wasn't working before, but now I can at least get to my video media via the folder dropdown.
