Change log level/Turn off logging

Postby b1kamikaze » Thu Nov 03, 2011 9:40 pm

Hi everybody,
I have been wrestling with an issue regarding subsonic recently and I finally thought to ask for some help. The basic problem is subsonic is creating some huge log files on my computer (..up to 10GB - and that's the limit because than I ran out of free space on that hdd). I looked at the logs and this seems to happen because there are some security issues when accessing a couple of files which results in some warnings. The playlist service jut keeps trying to access these files and fails every 10-15 minutes. The thing is I have a lot of files in my subsonic library and security issues are bound to happen because I keep adding files frequently and some might not have proper security settings.
My question is: is there any way I can modify subsonic's log level to error or just turn it off alltogether?
Thanks!

Update
I solved my problem in the meantime by removing the rights to modify those files, so I am posting my solution just in case anybody else comes across this problem in the future (the explanations are for windows 7 but should be similar to other versions of Windows):
- stop subsonic service
- delete the old log file ("c:\subsonic\subsonic.log")
- create a new file with the same name
- from security tab on the file properties window make sure your current user is the owner of this file (right click the file, choose properties, go to security, press the advanced button, go to owner tab, press the edit button and choose your username and press ok)
- from the same advanced security settings window make sure nobody has the rights to edit the file. (go to permissions and press change permissions, uncheck the "Include inheritable permissions for this object..." checkbox, remove all groups and users, press ok)
- do the same thing for the "C:\Program Files\subsonic\log\subsonic-service.log" file
- start subsonic service
