Subsonic / redirect / NoScript

Hello,

I just wanted to throw this out there. I'm using the "easy to remember address" redirect (http://something.subsonic.org) but I have NoScript installed in Firefox. NoScript does, what they call, Application Boundaries Enforcer and it does not like how the redirect is happening. It's not a problem, I just use the actual address when I have to use Firefox but I thought I'd send this out in case no one else has run into it. Here is NoScript's blurb on ABE:

Jeff could you test, with that script running, a dyndns address redirect.
I would suspect that the same issue may apply as you end up in a different domain.

The built in security features in modern browsers prevent web pages from changing the info in the address bar.
This is to help stop spoofing sites which is why your external IP is shown when you use your name.subsonic.org address.
You can use dyndns redirect but you will have to specify the port no. then

Thank you for the quick reply (sorry for the delay on my end). It's not really a script it's a plug in for Firefox called NoScript. What it does is block script attempts from sites you do not allow. It also has the "ABE" that is doing the blocking in my case. That being said, to answer your question a DYNDNS redirect works fine. Also, the subsonic redirect (something.subsonic.org) works OK if I'm outside my home network. I didn't notice when I first posted this but I did after I tried the dyn redirect.

So my internal address is 192.x.x.x and when I'm home the something.subsonic.org redirects me to the internal (192.x.x.x) address of the PC hosting Subsonic. If I'm at work something.subsonic.org redirects to my ISP assigned (external) IP address and that works fine. So, it's only when redirecting internally to my home network that NoScript blocks that request. Again, this is really a non issue for me so don't invest any effort on my part. If it's something you are interested in though and I can do anything further to test / trouble shoot I certainly will.

I can't tell you how much I LOVE this app. I used to have all my music (half a ter) up on Dreamhost and they got wise one day and gave me the old "take your sh...stuff and get out" ha, ha. Thanks for this great app!

Hi Jeff,

I had the same problem, but managed to fix it. I have no idea if this change has
any consequences to your noscript security settings, but it did de job for me me so
use it at your own peril!

Just access the ABE settings in your noscript configuration window and add the
following lines;

Code: Select all

# This one strips off any authentication data
# (Auth and Cookie headers) from requests outside the
# application domains, like RequestRodeo
Site *.subsonic.org
Accept ALL from *.subsonic.org
Anonymize

I commented out the the rest of the lines and I had succes.
