Layman needs aid for subsonic on iphone 4

Hey,

Subsonic was working very well on my iphone and suddenly stopped. I can get it to work while the phone is using a wifi setting, but it won't run on 3G settings. any help is appreciated. thanks, in advance.


Problem Description: Subsonic was working very well on my iphone 4 and suddenly stopped. I can get it to work while the phone is using a wifi setting, but it won't run on 3G settings. on the localhost page, the network settings say it successfully forwards to port 80, and my subsonic web page is registered, but it can't connect and gets the "connect timeout exception".
Troubleshooting Steps: the basics; restarting the router, switching port from 80 to 4040 and back

Subsonic Version: 4.5 (build 2385) – August 11, 2011, i believe
Server Version: jetty-6.1.x, java 1.6.0_20, Windows XP (29.5 MB / 68.6 MB)
Hardware Platform: Windows xp

I would suggest not using port 80 as ISP's have a habit of blocking that port if they think there is a server online.
Check with http://canyouseeme.org and check that the port you choose is open.
If they cannot see you nor will anything else. If they can't you will have to open the port manually in the router.

thanks for the help. i shifted the port number and it worked for a bit - but very, very slow. now it's timing out, again.

Check using another pc outside your lan - You need to determine whether its your internet connection or the 3G network.
You may want to increase your memory limit (java) try 256MB which should eliminate that from the equation.

it's not working on outside PCs either.

Did the canyouseeme test pass?
If it did I would do an internet speed test - your ISP may be having problems or your router is having a bad day
