Seems like Adobe Flash player is playing a major part in this problem. Chrome working just fine..
Running Windows 7 x64, Firefox 8 and Adobe Flash player 11.

I would suggest this is more of a firefox problem then subsonic :?
Solution: Don't use FF :D or make sure your add-ins are up to date.
FF8 is playing vids np here but I have got latest Adobe flash update.

I am running SS 4.5 with same version FF and latest Flash (11.1.102.55) on both Win 7 32 and 64 bit and cannot play any video. IE 9 works.

Odd its the same version that I have (did have an issue until I upgraded flash) :?
Perhaps its a plugin compatibility problem. Try disabling any plugins and see if that makes a difference.

Disabling add-ons make no difference:

video starts to load, FF becomes unresponsive and Flash crashes after about 20 seconds. I'm not seeing any errors in firebug either. I will try downgrading Flash tonight to see if this persists.

Try downgrading the browser. I'm having all sorts of problems with Firefox on my work laptop after it's been running a while. It'll gradually grind to a halt.
