Indexing removes info about albums

Postby cellulit » Wed Apr 23, 2008 12:09 pm

Latest Beta on XP (the exe version).
---------------------------------------------------

Hi.
I've noticed that Indexing keeps removing data about rated albums from the local DB. The reason is as follows:
Code: Select all
[4/23/08 2:00:19 PM CEST]     DEBUG   SearchService   Logically deleting info for album w:\][ the vault [theVault]\][ t\three fish - three fish. Not found on disk.

...but the folder of course exists.
I was also unable to find a pattern when the info gets deleted. Sometimes it's just one folder, sometimes more. There would be always folders "touched" by users (played, rated, commented), but not always all of them.

Any idea?

I'm having the exact same issue on Ubuntu 11.10

When I remove the folder, then run search update, place folder back, run search update again the album is added again....
Weird behaviour, can't seem to find anything what could be causing this.

It only happens with files recently played or rated. But not with all files/albums. Just some of them. Seems to be completely random.

Anyone has a clue what might be causing this?

I think it is because the search info is separate from the rating, commenting info. The latter is stored in a database table called music_file_info, and the search info is stored in a folder called lucene.

I get the same in my log files occasionally - I just ignore them.
The so called deleted albums still come up when I search and of course still play and are listed correctly so I don't know what it all means :?
Everyone is entitled to be stupid, Image but some abuse the privilege!

Due to the confusion from too many genres of music, we have decided to put both country music and rap music into the genre of Crap music.

OK. I just ran into this issue today. It actually sets a field in the database called enable to 'false' and won't show up in the search index. It happened to folders I had added cover art to, which changed the data modified, and may be the root cause of the problem. Investigating further...

OK. I tried a lot, and I am not getting very far. But, I can tell you this: It removes the album from the search database, but not the songs within it. So when searching for the album, it won't show up. But searching for the songs within the album will heed results.

I can comfirm the post above.
Exactly the same is happening here.

Search doens't return the album anymore, but when I search a song on that album it still finds it.
Also searching for artist still works even if the album disabled in the database is the only album in my collection from that particular band.

The album is also removed from the lists like recently played and top albums.

You have no idea how long I have spent trying to figure it all out. I tried re-enabling those albums manually, and let me tell you this: DON''T!
There will be unexplained spaces in the different views like random, recently played, etc...
I tried everything, including adding new files to certain folders to change the date modified.... Blah blah... everything. :)

I just made peace with the fact that some albums won't 'show up. That's fine in the larger scheme of things.

Did some more testing and found out that albums for which this is happening are missing before the removal from the lists.
When I search for an artist and play an album which was not in the search results this problem occurs.

So for some reason not all albums are added to the search index.
I just can't figure out why these albums are missing... tags are 100% correct and my folder structure is the same for all allbums:
/mnt/disk1/Music/Artist/Album/Tracknr - Trackname.mp3/flac

Yup. I tried everything including deleting the folders and reloading them, updating t heir dates modified, created, and accessed, adding files to them...
On one or two folder it re-added them to the search index. For everything else - no such luck.
