Music and webpage loading is slow

I just installed subsonic on my linux box and I love the features of it but it is very very slow... I was using sockso previously but I just switched to subsonic to test it out. I love it, but sockso was soooooo much faster at loading my music folders and what not. I know it isn't my connectiom. The box is on a 100 meg pipe. i assume the slowness of subsonic is due to the java and way it searches for the music files. Hopefully it will be fixed soon because it has some great features. Has anyone else had this problem with subsonic? I have a total of about 9,000 songs categorized into 8 different folders. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Over 1000 songs per folder That's a very large album.

SS directory structure really needs to be music\artist\album\tracks and you point SS at the music folder.

So I have make a "media" folder for each individual artist/album? that's too time consuming. Correct me if I am thinking incorrectly. pleeeaaasseee lol

I don't have all my music just thrown together in each folder. Each artist/album has it's own folder. One artist may have 4 folders, one for each album, with the corresponding songs under them.\

My music is listed in this format:

/dir/externalmedia/Music/Alternative + Rock + Metal/3 Doors Down - Away From the sun/music.mp3

it is like for all 9 of my folders, with one or two single mp3s under the "Genre" folder. What could be making subsonic so slow?

Any solution to this problem yet?

I installed Subsonic yesterday (latest release) on my whs2011 (running on a Ion Atom 330 system, 4GB RAM), and it seems increadibly slow to browse large folders (2100 albums divided into three folders). On my Android phone, I get server time-outs trying to browse it, using the web interface, I've never been able to browse any of the folders. It's all indexed up so I can use the search function, but browsing should also be an option.

Subsonic doesn't handle tremendously large folders well. Your best bet is to divide the folder's contents into multiple smaller-sized folders. Maybe this happens because each folder is generated dynamically, meaning that when a folder is clicked, subsonic goes through all the files using java. Perhaps the java is too complex and becomes too memory-intensive. Just a thought.
