No "Settings" button available in SS Android app on Thrive

Postby hanker » Sun Feb 26, 2012 10:43 pm

I'm trying to access my Subsonic server using the Subsonic Android app 3.3 on a Toshiba Thrive tablet, which runs Android 3.2.1. I've installed the app and started it. I have no "Settings" button as shown on, e.g., this page:

http://www.tools4movies.com/wp-content/ ... app_03.png

Rather than what's in that picture, I have, from top to bottom

Subsonic
Select server
Subsonic demo
Albums
Recently added
Random

etc.

How can I get to the settings?

Thank you! :)

Are you referring to a hardware menu button?

It doesn't have one. :\

Yes, the hardware menu button.

I would look here:

It appears that you can use the Debug Bridge to simulate the keypress if necessary...

Thank you for your reply.

Is there any chance that the Subsonic Android client will be updated to support the Thrive and other Android devices that lack hardware menu buttons without having to resort to simulating keypresses? This is my (non-techie) wife's tablet.

I would post a request in the Feature Request section.

That being said, once the server address is set up there is relatively little need to go into the settings menu. So if you set it up for her once she should be OK for the meantime.

Hokey, I know, but workable.

I'll post a feature request. Hopefully lots of apps will be getting this makeover since Google announced that "the menu button is dead".

In the mean time, I've seen some indication that it may be possible to emulate the menu button using the wheel button on a USB mouse. I'll try that as soon as I can and will post back if it works.

EDIT: I hooked up a usb keyboard. I hit the key on the bottom row that looks like a mouse arrow selecting a menu, and the Settings tab popped right up. Got that part working OK.
