No, I mean the services applet in the Windows control panel.
Not knowing what version of windows you are running makes it tough to tell you how to get to it, but I usually right click on My Computer, choose manage, and then open "Services and Applications" and then "Services."
Right click on the "Subsonic" service and try to start it.
But your symptoms suggest a borked Java install. if you go to
www.java.com and click the install button to install the latest version, does it complete? Does the java test page (
http://java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp) work after that?
