Getting video to stream

I was hopeing someone could put a step by step way to get subsonic to play videos i have a slight idea but im lost. plz help!

im running a windows xp server with subsonic 3.6.1 or something beta on it.

I have done it with luck by using VLC.

Add the extension of the video file to the list, and set the player settings to "External player with playlist". It wont work without this setting.

(using 3.6-beta2)
