Help with streaming podcasts on Android

Hello, I am a long time listener first time caller, have used this forum tremendously without registering, and have finally not found an answer to the problem I am having with subsonic (never thought this would happen :p )

So I decided to register here seeing as its such a great community and I really don't see any worthy replacement for what Subsonic does!

The issue I am having is with streaming podcasts to my android phone from my subsonic server. The podcasts stream fine via the web gui player, and through an external player that I have set up, but when attempting to play them on the android app, they will not play, and simply freeze up at the following screen (and never actually download)




My current setup is as follows...

Subsonic Server:

Version 4.6 (build 2585) – December 6, 2011
Server jetty-6.1.x, java 1.6.0_26, Linux (128.8 MB / 223.4 MB)
(OS Linux Mint 12)

I installed using the instructions from the website, am running as root upon start up without any issues, and am able to stream all my music perfectly.


Player Settings:

The only transcode setting I have tested with this is the default for 4.6

I have tried using Subsonic to manage the podcast feeds, and also an external program as well, and it made no difference the same podcasts where unable to be played regardless of which program handled the feeds. The podcasts are saved in a folder named "Podcast" within my music library, and I can view them all just fine like the rest of my library within the Android app.


The actual files themselves are mostly just voice recordings, with low bitrates, I do not know if that should or would make a difference. I can not exactly pinpoint as to why some of the podcasts work on the android app and some of them do not, yet all of them do from the other players.


The latest output from /var/subsonic/subsonic.log after fialing to stream the file that is pictured above in the screenshot (my username removed)...

Give the transcoder in my signature a try, it encodes all files to mp3 and this seems to help with low bitrate files

Will do thank you for the help.. I do not know very much about how to alter the transcode settings (ie what the syntax is/means), any changes I have made in the past were things I dfound on this forum.

EDIT: Well it did not make a difference, nor can I hear any audible difference in the audio, althought these have really low bitrates... out of curiosity however I did check and have come to realize that alll of the podcasts that won't play on android were all below 40 kbps ... coincidence?

Can you screenshot what you put into the transcoder with my signature.
Also can you see it re-encoding in the log as you try to play?
With this transcoder the quality does not change it simply re-encodes mp3 to mp3 always.
I don't know why it helps it just seems to work with SubWiji
