Video lag - what to do??

Hi everyone.

I´ve been using Subsonic without difficulty for a while now but after replacing my old PC with a newer one, one major problem has been bugging me. I mostly use it by streaming video(movies, tv-shows, etc.) to my computer at work and a couple days ago I replaced my home PC with a newer one as I said before, installed the Subsonic streamer as I did with my old PC and everything installed without any problems. However, I now find that the video starts to lag when I watch videos on my work PC(streamed from home) and I have no clue as to why? My new PC is more poweful and all drivers are up to date so I guess this has to do with something else. The video starts...then stops, (like it´s buffering) and then starts again.

Also, I find that I´m suddenly having problems watching certain file types on my home PC, such á .mkv which was never a problem with my old PC.

My current PC is running on Windows XP, has Celeron 2.5 GHz and 1GB of RAM and I have a poweful internet connection, getting download speeds up to 6,5MB/s so the upload speed should also be fine.

First thing I would try is lowering the bandwidth setting. If you don't see an improvement, then you may have some upload bandwidth issues with your ISP, or your work may be throttling the connection.

Lower the playback bandwidth first, and if that doesn't work, run a speed test on your computer - www.speedtest.net - and report the results (your download will be faster than your upload).

After doing what gurutech suggested you could (if using XP Pro) RDP into your home server from work and have a look in task manager while streaming.
That will show how much load is on the processors - if they are at 100% or near you may need to do some tweaking
However I suspect its more likely to be a bandwidth issue.
