"Allow User to Download" Setting

Postby Sp4rxx » Sun Jun 10, 2012 5:35 am

I apologize if this has been asked, but I was unable to locate any entries in the forums dealing with my question.

As titled, what does it really mean - to download for an 'offline'-type mode or download, or download as in 'now the user has a copy' kind of download? Or is it simply for caching so there is no lag between songs?

You see, I am kind of protective of some of my collection, but only to the point of not giving it away freely - I still want to allow for people to hear the songs of my collection. I understand that there aren't any specific settings allowing the admin to pick and choose what is to be downloaded or not; I just want to know what it exactly means to "allow for download" so I can set up and administer the server properly.

Yeah, it's kinda just like what it says it is. If you enable "User can download" then they can download tracks to their system and then they own them.

Also be aware that mobile connections if allowed will cache a recoverable copy to the phone.
