Hi all, this is my first post on the forum, although I've been using Subsonic for a couple for months now. I actually stumbled onto subsonic while I was looking into creating my own software to do the same thing! So saved me a lot of work but lost out on some good experience. Anyway, I use this mainly for video (android app is great for my music collection too!) and have been using it with great success on version 4.6. After updating to 4.7.beta2 though, I can't say the same. I do like the many enhancements that have been implemented since 4.6 except for one caveat: the video stutters! It's almost as if the framerate dropped from the 30(or 29) that it should be to the low 20s. I tried to resolve the issue for a few hours to no avail though....
After trying different versions of ffmpeg (even some custom ones I found in the forum here!) nothing helped. From what I can tell, ffmpeg isn't using all of my cores as efficiently as it was in 4.6 (the ffmpeg version in 4.6 didn't help when I tried to use it in 4.7.beta2 either) Basically, my system monitor shows it using 100% of one core and not really any of the rest. The '-threads 0' or '-threads 4' didn't make any difference either. It was only using one core and sort of randomly using switching between cores. I have a quad core i5 running at 3.6Ghz and 4 gigs of ddr3 2200 ram btw.
SOLUTION: I gave 4.7.beta1 a try and it seems to have fixed the stutter issue. My cpu usage shows even distribution accross all cores and I get buttery smooth playback.
So I resolved my issue but anyone else seeing the same issue? Any ideas on the cause?
