MP3 Organization File Manager

Postby newburns » Tue Jul 03, 2012 11:09 pm

Does anyone have any ideas on standalone file maintenance/managers for music/media files on a linux system?
I am running Centos 5.x and don't want to constantly manage the mp3 files uploaded. I am not the only one with access to upload, however, I am mainly responsible for the clarity and user-friendliness of the site.
Looking for something that will even run command line, don't really care, but it should check music (mp3) files against a database and organize all files according to hierarchy file structure. Also, any conflicts will be handled by an administrator.

Please tell me you have something close to this.

I'm currently searching for something like that even if they are separated tools, one for upload/manage packages, one daemon for organize and collect id3 tags informations on web...

Found a nice plugin here on forum musiccabinet:

MusicCabinet is an add-on for Subsonic. It uses the free musical knowledge gathered at Last.fm, to help you:
create automatic playlists

pick one or more genres (pop, 90s, piano...), and get a playlist of matching songs.
pick an artist, and get a playlist of popular songs by related artists.
pick an artist, and get a playlist of popular songs by that artist.

browse by theme

pick a genre, and display your top artists that fits best in that category.
pick an artist, and display your other artists that are most closely related.
browsing is enhanced using artist image, artist biographies, genre descriptions, and album cover art.

But it is not what we are talking about... but we can learn how to improve it and organize a new feature to manage the content and organize tags.

For me the main idea is to:
-collaborative upload/file management (so our friends can load their music library, could be something like a cluster too ;X)
-an id3 organizer daemon that can show you what is wrong and what needs you to be reviewed (covers, id3 tag information...) what is missing on your discography library, new CDs warnings..
-a cool tool that can help you work on the "id3 organizer" and get all the info from web (freedb, lastfm, amazon) and ask you for approve to change it.

Let´s discuss more about it and get it done!!

Thanks in advance,
