not running - auto start

Postby batchelar » Mon Sep 24, 2012 12:20 am

just upgraded my "server" to win 7 ultimate 32 bit in fact did a fresh install not an upgrade

got all windows updates available newest version of java then installed subsonic

set all my network settings as they were before router still set to fwd port 4040 as it was before and configured subsonic as such

now it works but then as it is playing music via web browser player it will just stop playing and no matter what hyper link i then use on my sub sonic client browser nothing will load, in fact it will do nothing. So i close the browser ( ff 15 or chrome ) and go to me "server" and stop the subsonic service. then before i can start again it pops open to control panel and gives the message not running - auto start. I can not clear this message. i go to services plug in and stop the service and restart but it will not clear. the only way to remove the error is restart the "server" but the caveat there is that subsonic will not allow the server to restart unless its a hard shut down and restart.

i am going to uninstall subsonic and all java's on the "server" and reinstall but i really should not have to do this. on win XP never experienced this issue. i have looked up this error in the past and found ppl saying oh it was a router config issue. I would agree A if my router was just newly configured but it has not been it has the same config settings as it had when in win XP when it worked flawlessly. and B I would agree it was router config issues if it did not play music for 30 45 minutes before this issue happened.

So beyond my uninstall reinstall does anyone have anything else to add or suggest?

Which SS version are we talking about here?
I would check your memory allocation via the SS control panel - if SS is running low on gas you can get strange symptoms & errors.
As far as the router config is concerned I would agree and would be very surprised if that was the issue.
However make sure that the new server has got a static internal IP and any port forwarding rules set-up are going to the right address.

Due to the confusion from too many genres of music, we have decided to put both country music and rap music into the genre of Crap music.

could be my issue is my ram. it is an older system running win 7. liked it on XP but had to many config issues with other devices on the network. you may or may not know how is ubuntu on system resources.

i am currently running at a steady 580mb used (of 1 gig) and processor at 5 - 20% w subsonic reporting as running. i have 200Gb free on the local ghdd is it worth it to increase paging size?

also notye am running plex, ftp server and file server operations on this . nothing too tasking when run individually

i should add am running ss v 4.7.3106

so i increased paging file to max set windows to run to optimize performance and back ground services and my mem usage fell to 555 mb in use.

another odd happening is that on my home page it is set to display 10 random albums but nothing is displayed even selecting the other options from teh drop down nothing is displayed...
