Can't login to Android app

Postby orko » Tue Nov 06, 2012 4:49 am

I can't log into my server with the android app, it keeps giving me :

'connection failure. length=40; regionStart=0; regionLength=-1'
and then:
'wrong username or password'

Nothing is logged so I can't tell what is going on. Web interface works, for BOTH desktop and android!

I tried to re-install the app and clear the data. I even restarted the phone several times... still can't connect. The demo server does connect and play, so I am suspicious about my install. Any help?

Using a Ubuntu 12.04 server with the 4.7 (build 3105) .deb install and latest official android app. Yes I did pay, Yes it is licensed, YES I KNOW THE USERNAME/PASSWORDS ARE CASE SENSITIVE, No there is no firewall running and I am trying a direct internal-network connection.

Does this mean you're using the server IP (ie 192.168.1.5) in the app as 'Home'? Or is this using your subsonic addy?

The private network, 196.168.0.

I don't use the .subsonic subdomain feature.

I spun up a tomcat vm instance and deployed the war file.. now the androids app connects.

Can some one confirm the deb package works with the latest android app? This is just not working for me. Also, I'd wish subsonic was more verbose!

So i gave up on the deb package, its seems to be broken regarding android app login. Fortunately, tomcat is very easy to install.

I happen to use ubuntu because I use this box for xbmc as well and I am currently running the Frodo Alpha montly builds which are available via PPAs.. I migth switch to CentOS but i'm liking ubuntu.

Anyways, this is what I used to deploy subsonic on tomcat:

[ Subsonic 4.7 stable on UBUNTU 12.04 with Tomcat 6 (ubuntu repo package) ]

Code: Select all
#!/bin/bash

sudo apt-get install tomcat6-docs tomcat6-common tomcat6-admin tomcat6
sudo /etc/init.d/tomcat6 stop
sudo echo '
<?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?>
<tomcat-users>
<role rolename="manager-gui"/>
<user username="tomcat" password="changeme" roles="manager-gui"/>
</tomcat-users>
' > /var/lib/tomcat6/conf/tomcat-users.xml
sudo chown root.tomcat 6 /var/lib/tomcat6/conf/tomcat-users.xml
cd /tmp
wget http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/subsonic/subsonic/4.7/subsonic-4.7-war.zip
sudo apt-get install unzip
unzip subsonic-4.7-war.zip
cp subsonic.war /var/lib/tomcat6/webapps/
sudo chown tomcat6:tomcat6 /var/lib/tomcat6/webapps/subsonic.war
if [[ -d /var/lib/tomcat6/webapps/subsonic ]];then sudo rm -rf /var/lib/tomcat6/webapps/subsonic; fi
sudo /etc/init.d/tomcat6 start

This should deploy the subsonic war, verify with the web gui manager at: localhost:8080/manager/html
