Change Startup Page from nowPlaying.view to home.view

Postby willieb » Fri Jul 27, 2012 3:08 pm

I just found subsonic last night and love it so far, I'm a believer! I'm trying to get my initial install setup the way I want it and have a simple question. I searched google and this forum, and didn't see it in the FAQ so I apologize if I missed it.

How can I change the default page after logging in from nowPlaying.view to home.view? I know this has had to have been asked in the past but I can't find it to save my life lol. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Edit: I am running 4.7 b2, Windows XP Pro

I found it finally in a post.

In C:\subsonic\jetty\3012\webapp\WEB-INF\jsp\index.jsp find:
Code: Select all
<frame name="main" src="nowPlaying.view?" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0">

Replace with:
Code: Select all
<frame name="main" src="home.view?" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0">

Or if you also want ordered by Recently Added replace with:
Code: Select all
<frame name="main" src="home.view?listSize=10&listType=newest" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0">

Just use Masdsonic and you can select what you want in the settings.

Some of us don't want a complete overhaul of Subsonic, but we DO want the ability to adjust a couple small annoyances that we find in the regular version.

Yes, that's true, but others may not want to edit jsp files every time they update or reinstall Subsonic. A real plus with Madsonic is that you can change the start view to any of 8 different views without doing ANY editing. Just select from a drop menu in Settings/General anytime you want to change it.

Just pointing out another option - didn't mean to ruffle any feathers. :mrgreen:

Music Cabinet has this feature built in as well.

Yeah, so present it as "another option" if you want, but seeing nearly every thread reply as "just use Madsonic...." starts to get a little annoying to be honest. Especially when someone asks a specific question like this, as to "where do I change the file for X"...anyone doing this and modifying jsp's realizes they are messing with the base package, and will need to keep track of all mod's so they can be redone after upgrading. We get it, or we wouldn't be asking how to change it. Again, just asking to tone down the knee-jerk reaction of "just use Madsonic..."...it may be great for you, but it's not what some others want. Thanks.
