"Pointing Your Domain Query"

Postby newsub » Thu Jan 10, 2013 4:25 am

I just bought a Subsonic Media Server through GIgapros. Most of the installation instructions were easy to understand. I am a little confused about the final step. Whom do I contact about creating an "A Record" for my domain so I can point it at my IP address?

Who hosts the DNS records for your domain? Is there a reason you don't want to just use the subsonic.org vanity name that comes with registering the subsonic server application?

This being said, I have no idea what directions you are talking about... so maybe you could share and my answer would make more sense.

I installed Subsonic via Gigapros. The final step mentioned was that I had to point my domain to my new vps. I do have the subsonic domain that I created. I just haven't figured out how to point it at my VPS or if it is necessary to do so. Otherwise, everything is up and running.

They are talking about if you have your own domain. If you do not, and just plan to use the subsonic.org vanity address, you are done.

Enjoy!
