Ok, I just got it sorted out and it was authentication related but not in the way that I thought, and unless I missed something not in the way that the FAQ's address or touch on. It does look like the Subsonic service passes it's credentials to the shared resource and that shared resource must be able to authenticate against the passed credentials. Despite configuring the service with the Administrator account and synchronizing the Administrator account passwords between the two machines it was not working. What finally did the trick was to use an account that is in the Administrators group(but not the actual Administrator account) with synchronized passwords. I was in fact previously using identical accounts however the passwords were not synchronized. Once I went to the Windows 7 box and changed the account password to match that identical account name that is on the server, it kicked in and worked.
This restriction was in place and seems to contradict the postings I read that state that 'if you can access(via My Computer/Windows Explorer) the remote network shares from the machine where Subsonic is installed and configured then the media folders should be good to go'. Since I had granted 'Everyone' full access to the shared folders on the Windows 7 box, and since I can access the network shares without entering any credentials I would have thought it would all have worked. If this is covered in the FAQ then I missed it and perhaps it should be highlighted. I'm pretty savvy when it comes to networking/windows configuration and I struggled with this for a bit longer than I should have IMO.
At any rate I'm up and running.
