Error Syncing to Stream

Postby kyomi7502 » Wed Jan 16, 2013 1:45 pm

I've just added some Chthonic to my library and it always seems to "not like" one album. I am using the External player with playlist option and playing the files with Winamp. The files themselves are fine, they will play without errors when played from the local hard disk and not through streaming.

Yesterday Takasago Army was streaming just fine but Mirror of Retribution was not, so I re-ripped it and replaced the files, but it was still coming up with "Error Syncing to Stream" in Winamp. I tried re-encoding them with dbPowerAmp, same result. I finally just put all of them song by song into Audacity and exported them (essentially re-encoded them), this finally worked.. and now today I found out that Takasago Army is now doing the same thing where I get "Error Syncing to Stream"

Why is this suddenly happening today, when it worked yesterday and I had done NOTHING to the files that worked fine yesterday?

(2009) Mirror of Retribution
(2011) Takasago Army

Is how they are ordered in Subsonic.. so did I somehow "shift" the problem down? Since I highly doubt the problem is with the files since they were working fine yesterday
This same problem happens with streaming to my Droid Razr, where it will bring up the song details and even the cover art but refuse to play

You seem to be concentrating on the audio part but the problem may be the in the tags.
ffmpeg appears to be a bit "fussy" on what should or shouldn't be in the ID3 tags.
Open the files in something like mp3tag and check for any anomalies eg funny track no's, disc# etc.
However that doesn't really explain why it plays ok one day and not the next :?
Everyone is entitled to be stupid, Image but some abuse the privilege!

Due to the confusion from too many genres of music, we have decided to put both country music and rap music into the genre of Crap music.

I've tried the "Clean Database" link under Settings.. but there is no feedback on if anything happened or if it was successful/failed when you click on it. I'm not sure if that would help, but it said that Subsonic retains information about every media file it sees. maybe after a "Clean Database" and "Scan folders now" it will lose the bad entries?

Do I have to re-download the playlist every time I change something like that? Some times Error Syncing to Stream would happen if I modified the files in mp3gain or something and then replaced the ones that were already there, even though it has the same file name and everything.

EDIT: I've also seen some threads about encoding music using lame instead of ffmpeg. I haven't had any problems with ffmpeg until now but it might be worth a try since lame is made for music. Do/es you/anyone know anything about encoding with lame using subsonic?

Just tried it again in the car with the Subsonic Android App, it will get all of the info for the track but refuse to download or play it.

I'll try to upgrade the version of ffmpeg on the server and see if that makes a difference.

Ok, this is DEFINITELY related to transcoding. I updated the version of FFMPEG to the latest version and it doesn't even attempt to transcode it, it just moves to the next song.

I set my player to "No Limit" and they play just fine now.. I've also noticed it takes about 10-15 seconds for it to read the ID3 Information, could that be why it's having issues transcoding?

To update on this issue, changing the player to "No Limit" fixes the majority of the problem but there are still errors where it will not play. All of the Camo & Krooked I have produces this same issue where it will not even start to play, it just hangs and I have to manually advance to another song which will play fine.

I've found this program called MP3Diags which will scan all of your music files for metadata and file structure issues and allow you to fix them. I know the files themselves are good since they play just fine on my computer or my PS3.

I'll report back with the findings after using it on some files.
