I've been having a few issues here and there with video streaming when I visit family. It's about an hour and 15 minutes away and sometimes it works great and other times not so great.
I've run a test with a video they were having a problem with and streaming it locally from my server to my computer it streams fine, but looking at task manager ffmpeg.exe takes up anywhere from 60-75% processor time. Is there any way to improve this so that it uses less processor time but still gives the same quality of results?
They were having an issue streaming a movie last night while I was playing world of warcraft and I couldn't check the logs from my SonicWall because they had been overwritten already. Would this just be an issue that could be solved by setting up bandwidth management (QoS)? Or is there another way to solve this?
Thanks
Update: I've recently updated the ffmpeg version from zeranoe's site, restarted the server and then under System Properties -> Advanced tab -> Performance -> Advanced tab again, changed the Processor Scheduling option to "Adjust for best performance of: Programs" (it was set for Background Services)
It seems to be working much better now
