"Jukebox" mode doesn't work?

Postby koborn » Wed Feb 13, 2013 4:17 pm

Trying to set up to use an Raspberry Pi as a Subsonic server, connected to an audio system, mounting a music filesystem from a fileserver. THe idea is to control this with the Subsonic UI from a tablet or phone.

So this requires that the Subsonic server on the Pi plays out of the local audio device.

Trouble is, setting "Jukebox" mode (Play music directly on the audio device of the Subsonic server. (Authorized users only).), it still plays from the audio device of the web client (the tablet or phone)--. I've tried this on an old laptop as well: doesn't matter what you set, audio output is always from the device that the UI is displayed on.

Right now I'm just Admin, so I would have thought I would be an "Authorized user".

Have you set the app to RC mode? :?

Due to the confusion from too many genres of music, we have decided to put both country music and rap music into the genre of Crap music.

:-) - had to search to find what "RC mode" is. I'm not yet using a phone or tablet app, just testing using a browser on another machine to access the Subsonic machine - so there is no "RC mode".

However, I found a method:

The Admin user doesn't have the controls under the "users" control exposed. If you add a new user, one setting is "User is allowed to ply in jukebox mode". Mysteriously, in order for this setting not to be disabled on save, I had to also select "user is admin".

So it seems that the default admin user cannot use jukebox mode, and there is no way to change that. But an additional user with admin rights can--.
