UNC paths no longer work?

Postby darcilicious » Wed Mar 06, 2013 9:57 pm

I was running a previous version of subsonic server (not sure which) and just upgraded to v4.7.The about page says:

Version: 4.7 (build 3106) – September 12, 2012
Server: jetty-6.1.x, java 1.7.0_11, Windows Vista (33.7 MB / 39.6 MB)

All my folders have been added using UNC paths (e.g.\\mediaserver\music\folder 1, \\mediaserver\music\folder 2,etc) and this worked great for literally years.

However, since the upgrade, none of these folders can be "found" -- for each folder listed on the settings page, it just says "Folder not found".

Is this a known issue?

Never mind, I solved it by uninstalling Subsonic and throwing all my music content at Plex (which I've had installed for a while now) -- Plex has come a long way and the Plex client is available on numerous platforms these days. One less server and a set of apps for me to maintain/use!

Sounds like you forgot that, years ago, you had to change the Subsonic service to run under the credentials of a user account that has access to those UNC shares.

Unfortunately the Subsonic install process often does not keep service customizations like that and they need to be reset after logon.
