Android app plays for 30-45 minutes, then crashes phone...

Postby $chlitz » Tue Mar 12, 2013 1:55 am

so, basically, like the title says...i'll be listening to music for at least 30 minutes and the music will just suddenly stop. pull my phone out of my pocket only to find it completely locked up. screen is black, no buttons have any effect. can't even power the phone down. i have noticed on a few occasions that the notification LED still flashes, even though the phone is completely unresponsive. after about two minutes, the phone will eventually reboot itself. pretty frustrating.

phone is Motorola Droid Bionic running 4.0.4 with no known issues to speak of. phone rarely, if ever, crashes other than when running the subsonic app. i've tested and tried a few other music apps (slacker, google music) and they play fine and never crash, but this is now happening EVERY time i use the subsonic app. phone does seem warm when it crashes, but not hot...could heat be an issue? any other ideas? thanks!

It really doesn't matter if only this app is causing issues for you, if any app is able to do that to your phone there is MOST definitely something wrong with your ROM/device that has absolutely nothing to do with the app itself.

that really doesn't make much sense to me...care to explain a bit more? i mean, if the problem NEVER occurs except while using one app in particular, how can you say it has nothing to do with that app at all? where is the logic there? ???

to be clear, i'm not saying there ISN'T an issue with my ROM/device, just don't understand how you can rule out the app entirely.

If it were the app, we'd see many reports. Try deleting the app from your phone, and re-installing...perhaps your app is corrupt.

Because it just means that this is the only app you are using that happens to use something that breaks your phone. What it is doing is clearly perfectly valid else others would have the same issues. So what does that leave? Your phone ;-)

And like I said, the system is designed to mot let stuff like that happen. No app should be able to do what you are saying it is doing, so there HAS to be something wrong with your phone. The app just plain out doesn't matter in that context.
