Playlist not updating

I've just installed subsonic (On Ubuntu, sun-java-6) and it seems to be working ok except for playlists.

Version 4.7 (build 3105) – September 11, 2012
Server jetty-6.1.x, java 1.6.0_35, Linux (57.7 MB / 119.9 MB)

I am able to save the play queue as a playlist no problem, but if I click on a track/album/artist and 'add to playlist', then select a playlist to add it to, I get the green tick and the message that my playlist has been updated, but it hasn't. There is nothing in the log when this happens so I'm unsure how to proceed with debugging it.
