[SOLVED] FLAC transcode OK, but no sound on some files

Postby MikeLegit » Mon Apr 01, 2013 3:16 pm

I am having problems with flac files on my QNAP box. Most of them work fine however a small handful do not. On my Ubuntu system they all work flawless so I know it's not a file problem. Also I have looked at permissions and even moved the files to a new directory with no luck. Also tried chmod -R 777 on the directory to be sure. Looking at the logs there are no indications anything is wrong. It's almost like it never reaches the output pipe to subsonic.

Anyone have any clues as where to search for more info?

Logs where it doesn't work:
Code: Select all
[4/1/13 2:14:40 PM GMT]   INFO   PlayQueueInputStream   admin listening to "2011 - Here for a Good Time/04 - Poison.flac"
[4/1/13 2:14:40 PM GMT]   DEBUG   TranscodeInputStream   Starting transcoder: [/share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/Subsonic/home/transcode/ffmpeg] [-i] [/share/MD0_DATA/Music/Test/2011 - Here for a Good Time/04 - Poison.flac] [-ab] [128k] [-v] [0] [-f] [mp3] [-]

Logs where it works using the same settings as above:
Code: Select all
[4/1/13 2:15:25 PM GMT]   INFO   PlayQueueInputStream   admin listening to "Collective_Soul--2007--Afterwords--Orig/01-New Vibration.flac"
[4/1/13 2:15:25 PM GMT]   DEBUG   TranscodeInputStream   Starting transcoder: [/share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/Subsonic/home/transcode/ffmpeg] [-i] [/share/MD0_DATA/Music/Alternative/Collective.Soul/Collective_Soul--2007--Afterwords--Orig/01-New Vibration.flac] [-ab] [128k] [-v] [0] [-f] [mp3] [-]

Additionally, running from the command line it works fine. The mp3 plays fine:
Code: Select all
/share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/Subsonic/home/transcode/ffmpeg -i /share/MD0_DATA/Music/Test/2011\ -\ Here\ for\ a\ Good\ Time/04\ -\ Poison.flac -ab 128k -v 0 -f mp3 Poison.mp3

ffmpeg version info:
Code: Select all

Since I stumped the community, here is the answer. :D I finally figured it out now that I've had some time to play with it.

Code: Select all
flac -d *.flac

Code: Select all
flac -8 *.wav

Done! Now they play properly. Something goofy with the encoder process which this fixed. It had me stoopified because on a Ubuntu system they played fine. I guess this fixes it.
