timeout error - registered name change fixed it

I upgraded to the latest version and found i could not connect anymore, was getting the connction timeout error exception that I have seen many people complain about. I was definitely port forwarding OK, I checked it with some tools. As a last resort I changed my username.subsonic.org to a new name and it worked straight away - if I pit the old name back in it fails again. Could there be some issue at the backend with my registered name?
