I have buffering issues when trying to access my Subsonic server remotely (from my laptop at school) and through my phone (iSub on iPhone 4s through AT&T 4G).
My home connection speed is 50 Mbps down, 5 Mbps up. My school connection is 75 Mbps down, 40 Mbps up. Phone connection is 4.5 Mbps down, 0.43 Mpbs up.
Subsonic is running on a Windows 7 HTPC with an AMD A8-3870K 3.0GHz processor, 4GB RAM, wired ethernet connection and music is on a USB 3.0 external harddrive.
I'm getting buffering issues on my laptop using Google Chrome, streaming 192 kpbs mp3s with no transcoding. Same with my phone using iSub -- but I had it transcode down to the lowest setting and it still has buffering issues.
After 12 seconds or so the song stops for like a half second to a second, and then starts again, then 12 seconds or so, and then it stops. Most of the time if I pause for a few minutes it goes ok, but I can't help feeling that with 5Mpbs up on the server end and 75 Mbps down on the client side, a 192 kpbs file should be no problem.
EDIT: Testing it at home, same problem trying to stream to my phone on wifi. What the hell??
EDIT 2: Testing from my work laptop (a different laptop, different network) with no buffering issues at all. Work network is 10 down and 1 up. However, streaming from my iphone through that network creates buffering issues
EDIT 3: I should probably add that my personal laptop is a MacBook Pro (intel) approximately 3 years old but running whatever the latest OSX is; and my work laptop is a PC running Windows 8.
