MP3 Transcoding

Postby cirehawk » Sat Aug 03, 2013 5:44 pm

I'm a premium user and use the subsonic android app for accessing my music collection. However, some of my songs are in ogg format and won't play. I looked at the default transcoding strings and nothing looks out of the ordinary, but my songs just won't play in the player. They appear to download to my phone but nothing happens. Any help would be appreciated. By the way, I'm running subsonic on linux.

P.S. Seems like a few years ago I found a transcoding string that worked for me, but I can't be sure (I may have just converted the OGGs to MP3s).

You most likely just need to update ffmpeg.

Thanks for the reply. The version ffmpeg I have appears to be the latest.

Still haven't gotten the transcoding working, but something occurred to me. Since my android phone supports OGG, there shouldn't be any need/reason to transcode my OGG files to MP3. So under the player name for my android, I disabled (unchecked) the MP3 transcoding. Now my android is playing my native OGG files beautifully. I will still try to figure out the issue with transcoding, but it's a moot point now. Thanks again.
