4.8 With whs2011

I know this may seem easy but I have 4.7 running on whs2011 using the .war file and it was a pain to set up especially using certs. There was a very good tutorial on how to get it running but it required jumping through hoops. Can I just use the exe file now? or should I still use the .war. Is there certain steps I should follow? I looked for a tutorial but did not find one and every time I install a new version its jacked without help from users.
