Share not working from my server

Postby lemayp » Fri Nov 22, 2013 4:23 pm

Hi,

Is there a place I could find the exact requirement for the share option to work on from an subsonic server?

My problem is that we can access to a song that I share with a link, but the song will never start. We only see the image of the album and the necessary to start the song, but it won't start.

I have looked at the newgroup and saw this problem to be reported before but couldn't identify how people have resolved it, if they did...

Is my problem on the server side (subsonic, firewall, etc) or the client side (something that need to be part of the browser)?

Here is a sample link generated. If someone could confirm this is working for them or what could be done to resolve the situation, that would be great.

Oh! I just realized that I have put the wrong IP adddress. This was the ip once converted to my local network

So the problem I see is that the share page is loaded, the song appear to be transferred (progress bar is active) but there is no way to start the PLAY. Pressing the Play button doesn't start the song.

I tried with both Google Chrome and now with IE on a PC.

Could that be a problem on the server site or on my browsers?

I am running subsonic premium: 4.8 (build 3434) – April 17, 2013

Anyone able to hear the sound I have shared?

Oh! Apparently I just found the source of the problem...

I wrote a message to do a follow-up on this thread and before sending the message I have decided to create a new share and picked that song:

http://lemayp.subsonic.org/share/hYyOM

And surprisingly that one worked. First time ever that a share would work and I can tell you I have tried several time before...

The difference is the fact that this song is an MP3 while most of my collection is in m4a format (itune), so the problem is that the client is not able to play it. Strangely the m4a files can be played with the subsonic web application, but not when coming from a share, not sure I understand the difference.

At least the newsgroup will finally have a documented solution for this problem..

But why would I be able to play the song through the subsonic web application but not directly from a share? I know I have some transcoding set on my server, but it doesn't include m4a in it unless I misread it: "ogg oga aac flac wav wma aif aiff ape mpc shn"

Knowing that the problem is related to the fact that an m4a song is being used in the problematic share, anyone would have some recommendation or suggestion ?
