Newbie needs a bit of simple setup advice

Postby marcm » Tue Jan 21, 2014 1:03 am

Hi all,

I have just decided to try SubS for streaming from my Windows home PC. I have an Android phone (Galaxy S3) and I just purchased a Win 8.1 tablet (full Win version, not RT). I might switch the tablet for an Android (new to win 8 but I have had an Android tablet for 3 Years) but let's leave it with Windows for this post.

I know I need to install the Windows server on my home machine. I am just wondering what client to use on the Windows tablet. I can install the full version but I also see some lighter clients in the app store (4 actually and none by Mr. Mehus. I also see there is web browser streaming.

Any advice?

Thanks

All of the clients are different, and you should try them all. Not much help, I know..but some will be too fiddly, some easier to config, some harder. I use Chrome extension call Jamstash, but you night enjoy something different. :)

Thanks for the advice. I have not use IE in years but seems to be the way to go with this Win tablet. I assume there is an extension? I guess I will start with a browser extension. I have not even downloaded the server yet!

thanks

Chrome browser will serve you better than IE, imho. It has a whole App Store of extensions, with Jamstash as one choice.
