*>ogg transcode causing iSub crash

Just switched from using vortex box to running subsonic to a mac mini running snow leopard and having issues with transcoding to ogg. It's causing isub to crash, whereas running it from vortex box I didn't have any problems. The output shows a Rest Api error.
Ive tried multiple versions of ffmpeg and subsonic 4.8 and 4.9 to no avail.
Anyone else experienced this? I'd prefer to transcode to ogg as at lower bitrates it sounds so much better than mp3.
