Trying to recover playlists in subsonic 4.7

Postby engmearn » Tue Mar 05, 2013 12:11 pm

Hi
I don't know if anyboy can help with the problem that I'm having but , i really don't know where else to turn. i have been using subsonic for for at least 4-5 years and i absolutely love it as do all my friends. I've had issues in the past but, nothing that i haven't been able to resolve one way or another myself. Unfortunately on Thursday subsonic 4.7 which i have ran since it's release without any issues decided to stop playing ball lots of java errors. The first one manifesting itself as the media folders losing their locations within subsonic. I used to specify the folder location as Albums e:\ which is where 2TB of music resided. All of a sudden i had a java error on the left hand side panel where the albums should be. The only way to resolve this was to put all the music into a sub-folder called media so, the dir path now reads
Albums e:\media hey presto the java error disappears. My problem which i hope you can resolve is that i have over 100 playlist which i now realize that i should have exported are still there but there are no songs in the lists at all. I assume that this is because i've changed the folder locations to correct the java error. I don't mind starting again with the build of subsonic but, can i get these playlist back from the database somehow even if i have to manually change the locations of the songs. I really don't want to lose the playlists its taken a long time to create them with input .By the way the more option no longer seems to work or database cleanup both have java errors again.

You don't happen to make backups of your hard drive (this is a good practice!) so that you can get back a previous version of the C:\Subsonic directory?

Have you tried moving the media back to its original position?

You say that the playlists are still listed (but showing 0 songs)
Can you go into db.view and type
Code: Select all
Select * From Playlist

and hit OK
That should list all your playlists and the file counts - take note of the playlist ID.

Then type
Code: Select all
Select * From Playlist_file

Do you get any media_file_Id's shown?

I suggest doing a search in the forum for further details but basically go into SS via browser then change the index.view in the address bar to read db.view.

Hi
Managed to get into db.view in browser. Lots and lots of reference ID's and playlist ID's sample below but, how does this now help me to extract (Export) the playlists from the database so i can then rebuild my dying subsonic server????

sorry for the delay - been otherwise engaged. :|
What I am trying to discover is if the database contains the correct playlist info.
Now back in db.view enter
Code: Select all
Select * from Media_file where ID=181095

Note that is the ID for the first entry for playlist ID 2 in your screenshot (not clear so check)
This should bring up the first track for that playlist - is it correct?
If it from a playlist called my heavy metal and an ABBA track appears then Houston we have a problem.
If it is correct then check the path name - how does that match your current media folders?

I lost my playlists in 4.9. The lists still exist in the webview, but most of them have no tracks in them, some only have one or two, seemly ones I've added recently. Any idea if there is data backed up automatically somewhere? Or still in the DB just not linked correctly or something?
