VLC transcoding problem

I want to know, if some of you are using vlc to transcode music via subsonic. I've searched long time on google and forums, but did not find any usefull help. I've got vlc running, but the main problem is, subsonic does not control vlc, neither does pass correct url via external playlist

Subsonic running on port 8080
Vlc runs on port 8081 (because 8080 is already taken - DOOHHH)

Now, subsonic playlist passes it's own port via playlist, which is 8080 and vlc is not running on that port. When I try to enter changed url with session and all that, vlc also cannot play movie. When I play stream with just url and port, movie is played normally.

Is VLC transcoding possible to use with the ease that ffmpeg brings? Also pausing and resuming...? (standalone vlc streams, and does not actually pause the movie when paused..)
