Music Folder Not Found

Hey all,

I am new at this so please bear with me if this seems noobish.

I just installed Subsonic for the first time. I have set most things up, but I keep getting an error that says no music folder found. My music folder is d:\music and it has MANY sub folders. I noticed a few posts that subsonic doesn't like spaces, so I renamed the folder to remove the spaces. I am currently renaming all the sub folders to take out spaces and special characters. However, there IS music in the main D:\music folder. So why is sub sonic not picking it up? I just don't get it. I noticed someone had suggested settings > search > update indexes. So I tried that too. Nothing.

Subsonic is fine with spaces.

You should check that music files and being searched for by subsonic e.g. .flac .m4a .mp4 .mp3

This setting can found at Settings > General in the "Music mask" text box.

You may need to update the search index after adding new file extensions to the music mask.

I know this is an old topic, but I came looking for an answer before I found the solution for my installation:

It appears that Subsonic needs "write access" to the folders, which is unfortunate.

In case anyone's searching for an answer in 2014, I was able to get around this problem by placing a symlink to the desired music directory (on remote NAS) inside of a local directory. I think the problem is that my remote drive name contains unwanted characters that Chrome->Subsonic->Java can't deal with on Ubuntu 14.

So I created a symlink /home/Music/NAS -> Some Network Drive directory, and point Subsonic to /home/Music/NAS

Subsonic seems to follow the symlink properly, at least in my case.
