Playlists empty after a reboot

Postby conlmaggot » Thu Jul 24, 2014 3:53 am

I have a strange problem with playlists disappearing after rebooting the host machine that my Subsonic instance sits on.

Firstly set:
Subsonic installed on Windows 7 VM.
The Subsonic Service has its own service account associated with it, which has local admin rights.
Music sits on a QNAP which the service account also has full rights to.
Install path etc is default as per the Windows installer.

I created some playlists, added music, and shared them with the other accounts, all is good.

However, it looks like, after a reboot, 4 out of 6 of the playlists are empty. I looked around on the forum, and couldn't see a related thread jumping out at me, just wondering if you guys can help.

Where are the playlists actually stored? Has anyone seen this behavior before. Does it matter if the Agent is running elevated or not when the playlists are created?

I remember one person having the same issue with a Windows install in the past, though I'm pretty sure he had his music stored on an external drive. I know if any of the music isn't accessible the microsecond the service starts, it will mark everything as not there. It will then rescan for new music, but they will all have new ID's and such, and so won't be the "same" songs which were in your playlists. My best guess is that for whatever reason the Subsonic service is being started before it can actually access the QNAP. I have no idea how Windows services run, but my best guess is that you need to find some way to delay the startup of the service. If you happen to figure out how to do that, please share that information here so if anyone else comes across with the same issue, they can use the same solution.

PS GJ51 might be able to help you since Windows is his thing, but not sure if he knows how to delay a Windows service startup or not.
