Subsonic Domain

Postby eseelke » Wed Aug 20, 2014 4:10 pm

I recently installed the new version of OMV on a PC. I discovered Subsonic as a plugin and tried it out a couple of days ago. I then discovered that I had used the wrong settings for OMV to work correctly, so I reinstalled the OS to start over.

Now, when I try to enter the same web address I used, it says the name is taken. How can I "recapture" the same web address?

Thanks, Eddie

1) Create a different name (like adding a "1" to the name you want), and wait a day or two, then try changing it to the name you want.
or
2) Send a PM to Sindre asking to remove the name you want to use from his DNS list, so you can recreate your server with the same name.

I'm sure there are other ways, and not sure how busy Sindre is, so that option may take a few days.

Another method would be to sign up with a DynDNS type service and create your own name/domain.

Thanks for the reply.

I actually already have a subdomain that points to my router. I did a port forward to the server running subsonic and it works fine. But, if I share a file it uses the host.subsonic.org domain. But, since my IP hasn't changed the original host is still working. Is there a way to tell subsonic to use my own domain?

Thanks

Not that I know of. Subsonic (and Madsonic, for that matter) will use your *.subsonic.org domain name.

I use no-ip.com for my domain name, and just forward it to my external IP address, then set up port forwarding on my router to get to my server.
