SS hanging on Android client

Postby pderwael » Sun Aug 31, 2014 12:19 pm

Hi there,

I'm having significant performance issues ending up in a totally unresponsive SS server
As I'm not too sure where is the issue (client or server), I start here; please feel free to point me at the right direction as needed!!

Here is my config:
Storage: Synology NAS on 100Mb switch

Collection: approx 500K mp3 files, 40K albums organized as follows:
\A\<Artist> - <Year> - <Album>\<Track> - <Title>
\B\<Artist> - <Year> - <Album>\<Track> - <Title>
etc...

Server
SubSonic 4.9 (build 3819), jetty-6.1.x, java 1.8.0, Linux (running on the Synology box)
Synology hardware: Synology DS413; processor FREESCALE QorIR 1.07GHz dual core, 1G RAM (usage 50%)
Synology OS: DSM 5.0-4493 update 4

Client: Subsonic for Android on Nexus 5, Android 4.4.4, kernel 3.4.0-gd59db4e
I have exactly the same symptoms with the Dsub client on the same phone

And now the interesting bit: the symptoms
The client connects properly to the server, but as soon as I want to search for anything, the processor (on the SS server) goes to 100%
On the client, I get "connection error" after 4 tries (not sure about the exact error message...)
If I cancel the request on the client, the server's proc is still at his max
Trying to search 3-4 times in a row makes SS completely irresponsive and the Synobox becomes terribly slow

BTW:
- I have the same issue on the local LAN as well as over the Net
- the web interface works like a charm (but not quite suited to an Android device)

Any clue would be MUCH appreciated!!

Cheers
