Using openvpn and can't access subsonic

I have subsonic installed and working fine on a seedbox. I also use openvpn which routes all traffic on an ubuntu computer through the seedbox. I have installed subsonic on the Ubuntu(home) computer. It's working fine but I am unable to access the server externally. Initially, with defaults It would bring up the subsonic server running remote. So I changed the port on the home sub server to 4043 but now when I type in the domain name I set up it brings up the ip of the seedbox and times out.

So it seems the connection request hits the seedbox and does not route properly back to my sub server at home. I've not quite figured out how to route this properly. Seems like I should be able to do this. Anyone who is a networking /routing master have any ideas? I'm just stuck. I don't have to have the home sub server run through the vpn.. maybe there is a way to set the home sub server to only use the local adapter and not the Tun0/openvpn adapter?

I am in a similar situation. I just successfully set up a Plex server on my machine, which I managed to route around the VPN. But I am trying the same approach for subsonic with no luck.

I use OpenVPN and PrivateInternetAccess.com for my VPN. For plex I simply added these routes to the config file for my connection. But I cant find the proper IP for subsonic to be able to connect.

For Plex this is what I added. It makes plex just go through my normal gateway and ignore the VPN altogether... I think (xxx.xxx.x.x is the IP of the local gateway):

For subsonic I tried adding this:

It allows subsonic to register, but it seems this isnt enough as it is not able to connect.

yourname.subsonic.org is registered, but could not connect to it. (HttpHostConnectException)

There must be another IP I need to route. The plex solution I found in a reddit post, hoping to find out what is missing for my subsonic to work.
