Playlists not playing on Clients (Playlists over 10 songs)

Postby MikeP » Fri Dec 05, 2014 4:23 pm

Disclaimer: I've read a lot, but I can't say I understand all that I read. I basically know enough to be dangerous. I'll do my best to provide the information and use appropriate language, but apologize ahead of time for any confusion as I am clearly not an IT guy or a someone who truly understands what I'm doing.

This problem has been going on for about 3-4 months, I have just not had time to ask for help.

Problem Description: When I attempt to play any playlists over 10 songs long, I get various errors (depending on the client). For instance, in the Plex Channel, I get "Channel is Not Responding" on all clients (Smart TV, Roku, Cell Phone). On the Roku Subsonic Channel, I will push Play All and it goes to the loading symbol, then the loading symbol disappears and nothing happens. The Playlist name remains. On the Roku TV Beta and Lite Channels, the loading symbol comes up and continues to work, but never starts playing. On the Roku Media Channel, pointed to the Subsonic Server, it will bring up the 1st 10 songs of the playlist, then stop there. On the Samsung Smart TV, I point the DLNA player to the Subsonic Server and it will play any playlist <=10 songs, and anything above will be unavailable.

Troubleshooting Steps: Tried to change Java Memory Limits. Have not tried anything else due to comfort level with understanding of things I've read.

Playback Application and version: Plex Subsonic Channel on Windows machine, Roku, Samsung Smart TV, and Android; Roku Media Channel; Subsonic TV Beta and Lite Channels for Roku; Subsonic Channel for Roku; Samsung Smart TV DLNA looking at Subsonic.

Subsonic Version: 5.0 (build 4100) – September 21, 2014

Server Version: jetty-6.1.x, java 1.7.0_65, Windows 7 (280.1 MB / 559.5 MB)

Hardware Platform: Windows 7 Profession SP1 - 64-bit; Intel Xeon; 3.2 GHZ; 12 GB RAM

Java Memory Limit: Currently set at 1000, but I have tried numerous settings from 350 - 1000 and none have made a difference.

Problem Filename: Any playlist over 10 songs

Output from ffmpeg -i: Not sure how to get this information

Re: Playlists not playing on Clients (Playlists over 10 song

Postby MikeP » Sun Dec 14, 2014 12:02 am

Update:

Playlists will not play period. All other symptoms remain the same.

A couple more things I've tried:

Uninstalling, reinstalling Subsonic completing (all of my previous settings be damned). So, I started from scratch. No change.
Moving the music from an external drive to the server box's internal drive (I read another help post with some similar issues. No change.

I've installed serviio on the same machine. Using DLNA (Roku My Media, Samsung Smart TV) and all of the same settings on the network/music directories, I have no problems playing playlists with the same folder structure/address (whatever it's called). So, can anyone not help me or at the least tell me what more I need to add to get you all to help me? I don't want to give up on Subsonic, but I'm close...

I also just realized today that I cannot add music to pre-existing playlists on DSUB (I usually don't because I'm using MusicBee to organize a huge playlist and I'm not done with that). Also, when I Star a song in DSUB, that rating does not transfer to the server.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks for any help.
