Bluetooth auto-play on android app

Postby buzzyapyear » Tue Jan 29, 2013 1:02 am

Hi.

I have my Nexus 4 paired up with the stereo in my car. Every time I start the engine, the subsonic app will automatically resume the last thing being played.

I'm sure this is useful in some cases, but I would still like to be able to disable this behavior, and can't seem to find a way to do it in the app.

Sometimes, the music you were listening to at top volume last night simply isn't appropriate when you start the car in the morning  Or sometimes you get in the car with a friend and Raffi starts playing because I had my kid in the car a few hours ago, and I would like it to not do that.

Does anyone have any tips? Thanks Team Subsonic for a really great product.

Maybe I can get someone else to back me up or say I'm crazy, but I'm pretty sure that as things are it doesn't (or at least isn't supposed to) automatically start playing when connected. In fact I have actually been having people request that I add it to DSub (my fork of the android code). Does anyone else have it auto start when they connect to the bluetooth?

That being said it has come up in discussions with people who do have bluetooth dashes that some of them have a "feature" where after being properly connected it auto sends a play signal, which Subsonic DOES listen for. I doubt there is really a way to distinguish between these and one that you had manually sent (press pause/play on the unit) though...

Thanks daneren2005, that is helpful. I didn't assume the car system was smart enough to do that, but will explore it further, thanks for the tip. Too bad the UI for the navigating the dash software is vastly inferior to that of your app.

In case anyone is coming to this thread trying to solve the same problem, I found one workaround:

Simply clear your Subsonic queue. If there are no songs queued up, Subsonic has nothing to auto-play when you start your car back up.

I know it's an old thread, but I've just started using bluetooth & have the same issue - Nexus 4 on 4.3. Whenever the phone connects by bluetooth, even if I haven't use subsonic for ages, it pops up & starts playing the last track that was queued up. Clearing the queue works, but it's a bit annoying!

Bump.

Same issue: auto-play BOTH when I start the car AND if I stop the queue and take a phone call. As soon as I hang-up, the Subsonic app fires up my play queue.

Clearing the queue does solve the issue but that's awfully annoying and inconvenient. Most other apps I use have auto-pay Bluetooth settings to toggle.

I hope there's a fix.

Same issue.

Moto X /Android 5.0 / Subsonic 4.4 / Pioneer DEH-P9400BH

Last night I was listening to something I had just bought via the Amazon music player. Got out of the car and when I got back in Subsonic fired up and took over playing something I put in my queue weeks ago.
