My ideal setup would be subsonic running on my home server, controlled by mobile apps, feeding music to in-ceiling speakers in multiple switchable zones throughout my home. Each room would have volume knobs and some method of turning that zone on/off, and it would be nice to sometimes have more than one zone on at a time (playing the same music, i.e. for a party).
Is this as simple as putting subsonic into jukebox mode, wiring my audio card output on the server into some sort of multi-zone amplifier? Or, significantly cheaper, could I use a normal home theater receiver into a speaker selector like this? http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=109&cp_id=10903&cs_id=1090305&p_id=8230&seq=1&format=2
