Migrate server from Windows 7 to Ubuntu

Hi all,

So sorry if this has been covered previously, but I can't seem to find a response to my question via Google-fu.

Currently I have my server setup on a Windows 7 machine. I would like to move it to an Ubuntu (latest) machine.

I have installed Subsonic on Ubuntu, but it wants to create a new server, not connect to my existing server. How do I move the server from the Windows PC to Ubuntu? Newb instructions please

As far as I know its not possible to migrate it from windows to ubuntu. But if you have it installed on your ubuntu just put the same settings and create the same user accounts. You can get user passwords... Just type db.view instead of index.view and type in the following sql command:
Select password from user;

Just take the hex values and convert them to asci

I'm bumping this old-ish topic to see if anyone has had any success doing this.

Subsonic is currently on a Windows Server 2008 R2 box with a local RAID that stores all of the music. I'd like to move all of my files to a NAS and Subsonic to one of the new Raspberry Pi 2 units. My Subsonic server gets a lot of use from multiple users and has been up for 3+ years, so we have a lot of statistics on plays and such that I'd prefer not to lose. I also have a lot of users that I'd prefer to not have to re-establish.

Is it hopeless or is there a way to do this?

I'm pretty sure you will not be able to bring over song specific information since it is stored by song id, and the id's will change when the song location changes. People aren't even able to do that when moving music from one place to another on the same server install. User info should transfer over fine if you move the db folder from wherever it is stored on Windows (Subsonic/db) to your new Ubuntu installation (/var/subsonic/db).

That's the most important thing. I can live without moving the song info over. I'll give it a try. Thanks!
