Problem Description: Tracks will simply not play. For example, if I try to play a song from the play queue in the standard browser player, a tiny segment will appear at the left end of the song progress bar for a moment (as if the song is starting), and then vanish. The play button will change to a pause button for a microsecond and then change back to a play button. The time elapsed will never advance past 00:00. Even worse, I hear no music.
Troubleshooting Steps: I tried restarting the subsonic service, restarting my computer where the subsonic service lives, re-installing subsonic, looking for log errors, testing from various apps and browsers (see next section for more on this).
Playback Application and version: Chrome browser, firefox browser (using standard server-address/index.view player), sonos, AVSub, iSub, JamStash. I won't list version numbers unless someone thinks they are necessary (I assume not since the issue spans many applications).
Subsonic Version: 5.2.1 (build 4428) – March 4, 2015
Server Version: jetty-6.1.x, java 1.8.0_45, Windows 8 (81.9 MB / 145.0 MB)
Hardware Platform: Windows 8 PC
Java Memory Limit: Ran into something interesting when I went to look for this. Saw a "Memory Used" field (60MB) but no "Java Memory Limit" field. So I assumed that field must be available from the other ("Settings") tab. However, I am unable to switch to the other tab by clicking it. The subsonic control panel seems to be having some rendering issues. If I click the settings tab, the view doesn't change. But if I click around, some elements from the settings tab become superimposed over elements of the Status view. A jumble. Seems unrelated to my issue but who knows? In any case, the field titles are not visible so I can't determine the java memory limit.
Problem Filename: None that I am aware of.
Output from ffmpeg -i: Not familiar with this. Perhaps not relevant since I'm not aware of a specific problem file? So not sure what I would type into command prompt for file portion.
Last ten log file lines: Last ten lines are all "MediaScannerService Scanned media library with x# entries". And attempting and failing to play a track adds nothing new to the log even after I refresh it.
I really appreciate any suggestions. Subsonic is now the primary way I listen to music everywhere. Thanks!
UPDATE on Java Memory Limit: After reinstalling subsonic, the subsonic control panel rendering issues seem to be resolved. Under the "Settings" tab, the "Memory Limit" field shows 150.
I still cannot play songs, however. Appreciate any help.
