cant see this anywhere else (Connection Refused)

Problem Description: Connection Refused
Troubleshooting Steps: Restarted Chrome, used a different browser. Restarted Computer
Playback Application and version:
Subsonic Version: The latest version
Server Version: the latest version
Hardware Platform: Windows 8

I am trying to work out what is happening, I have twice been able to connect to my computer from the work browser but on those occasions not been able to stay on for long, I am able to connect from my phone without much problems, just very slow streaming.

I keep getting the webpage saying Connection refused, and am just unable to work out what to do next, and if there is anything that i can do?

Stephen, your "work" may have any/all kinds of network security tools, including firewalls or other inline security tools that do full traffic inspection for http and https, packet shaping techniques, throttling, IDS/IPS tools, etc etc. Your best bet to baseline things is to connect from a 'simple' wifi network somewhere, though those are harder and harder to find these days no doubt. But try connecting from your neighbor's wifi, or a friend's wifi, someone with just a "simple router/firewall and a dream" so to speak! Let's eliminate work/office environments from the mix for now, to help isolate your issue. Later, we can go there of course. Can you connect from a coffee shop, or some other simple wifi and tell us if it's working? When you say you connected from your phone a few times successfully but that it was slow, were you in a rather poor cell connection at the time? Or are we talking 5 bars of goodness here? What carrier do you use for cell service? What kind of bandwidth do you have to your house where your Subsonic server sits?

There are many factors that could be going on here, you need to follow the scientific method and isolate each variable, and only change 1 thing at a time, until you find your issue. Thanks.

I have tried to connect from my mobile Data off the phone and it has been very slow streaming, I am trying to stream tv shows and movies, seems to take a long time to load up, and then some.

My mobile phone has been connected the the work "guest" wifi, and as far as i know there are no restrictions on anything, Most people here watch netflix and youtube, catchup tv and stuff.

right so trying to eliminate it bit by bit, Tried a 4g connection, its slow, tried the guest wifi, its slow but connects from phone, tried from the work computer and got through for a bit, had an episode started and watching, but wanted to view in the media player, clicked the settings link then got the connection refused page, and now its bring up the same page on every link. although am still able to connect via the phone. I am now paying for the service as well as thought might have been that. but i think am paying for a service that's not working properly.

could there be a problem on my home pc that may be causing this?

Need more info: what are the specs of your machine, client, internet connection speeds, performance within your lan versus wan,etc.
