Chromecast streaming help

Hello all.

I'm looking for some help on getting Chromecast working once again. From looking at other forum posts it seems to be hit or miss for people, but it had always worked for me in the past up until a few months ago.

Problem Description: When I cast to a chromecast on my local network, the subsonic logo comes up and just keeps loading and loading, never starting the video I chose. The computer seems to think it should be and is casting successfully. This is using the included chromecast button in the subsonic flash video window. The interesting bit is if I instead cast the whole TAB (from the button on the top-right of the browser) it works fine.


Troubleshooting Steps: Made sure local DNS was configured correctly. Tried 5.3, 6.0b1, and then reverted back to 5.3b2 because someone had stated chromecasting worked in that version. It did not work in any of these versions.
Playback Application and version: Chromecast Gen 1.
Subsonic Version: 5.3 (build 4569) – October 25, 2015
Server Version: jetty-6.1.x, java 1.8.0_71, Windows 7 (83.1 MB / 145.0 MB)
Hardware Platform: Windows 7 64-bit. Media stored on external USB3 drive. Using Chrome to cast.
Java Memory Limit: 1,500mb
Output from ffmpeg -i: Don't think this should matter?
Last ten log file lines: All scannerservice stuff. I just recently re-installed again so this probably won't be very useful.
